Alford Forest
Geoff Read Ltd developed this design with the client to capture the beauty of the surrounding bush and mountains, Mt Somers and Mt Alford in particular. The Home is located away from existing services and utilises solar panels and batteries for all electrical supply. Externally the home is clad in solid plaster over brick, wide cedar weatherboards, structural precast columns and asphalt shingles to the roof to stop snow from sliding and damaging gutters. Internally the open plan main living area with a pitched ceiling and cathedral windows maximises the views of Mt Somers. The Home is finished internally with solid American Oak flooring, extensive floor to ceiling tiling to the bathrooms and ensuites.
