Sited on the lower slopes of Mt Pleasant in Christchurch, this small home nestles into the hillside, capturing views over the estuary, city and Southern alps. Geoff Read Ltd prefabricated the house in their Ashburton yard to reduce construction costs by; shortening the construction period, reducing hill building technicalities and capitalising on prefabrication efficiencies. This methodically planned minimalist house defies preconceptions of what a prefabricated house should be. It features 3.3m Floor to ceiling glazing fitted within exposed steel structure, bespoke joinery, timber wall panelling and oversized sliding doors. The precision of the construction is what sets this house apart and is a testament to the experience of the carpentry team at Geoff Read Ltd.
